Negation (Negación)

To express negation, the particle non not is used before the verb:

• Non quero que veñas.

I do not want you to come.
• Hoxe non é mércores.

Today it is not Wednesday.
• María non mercou o pan.

María did not buy the bread.

• Non vexo nada raro.

I do not see anything strange (litterally: I do not see nothing strange).
• Dentro do cine non había ninguén.

Inside the cinema the was not anybody (litterally: Inside the cinema there was not nobody).
• Non vin xente ningunha.

I did not see any people (litterally: I did not see no people).
