Dates
and Times (Date e Óre)
When asking and telling the time you use the construction fem.article +
number because the unexpressed feminine word óra/óre
hour/hours is implied.
Question : Che óra xe£a? what time
is it? (lit.: what hour fem.
is she?)
Answers :
- Xe l' una / Xe £a una it's one o'clock
(lit.: [she] is the one fem.sg.)
- Xe £e do it's two o'clock (lit.:
[they] are the fem.pl.two)
Other sentences:
- Se catémo a £e tre we meet at
three o'clock (lit.: we meet at the
fem.pl. three)
- Vo fora da l' una a £e sinque I'm going
outside from one o'clock till five o'clock (lit.: from
the one fem.sg. till the fem.pl.
five)
Fraction of an hour :
- do e un quarto a quarter past two (lit.:
two and a quarter) , do e mexo half past two
(lit.: two and half)
- do e tre quarti= un quarto a £e tre a
quarter to three=three quarters past two
Dates are expressed in this way: number + de + month's name + del
+ year:
For example:
- 10 de Xenaro del 1990 January the 10th of 1990
- 4 de Febraro del 1993 February the 4th of 1993
- 30 de Majo del 2001 May the 30th of 2001
- 1 de Majo del 2001 = primo de Majo del 2001 May
the 1st of 2001
